Calisthenic workout equipment
If you are thinking about exercising through the use of calisthenics you might think that no type of equipment is used at all. Now it’s true that calisthenics does mean the usage of your body-weight when exercising. However are there fitness tools to use as an to dumbbells? In this post we’re going to consider at least 5 exercise equipment for calisthenics. You can find these five tools at the gym or you can buy them and use them whenever you do any body-weight exercise.
1) Jump Ropes
This equipment is personally one of my favorites and with good reason too. Not only are jump ropes convenient but also extremely effective to increasing your physical performance. When you use this really light but powerful equipment for fitness you’re helping both your upper and lower body in very drastic ways. For instance when you jump rope on a regular basis the muscles that you’re focusing on are-
- Back muscles
Now that’s a lot of muscles being targeted for just one type of fitness routine. Part a the reason for that is when you do any type of body-weight workout multiple muscle groups will but put to work. This is contrary to whenever you lift weights you focus on one specific muscle being targeted.

2) Elastic Band (exercise equipment for home)
Also known as a resistance band this here is one of the most versatile type of equipment you will use for calisthenics. With an elastic band not only is it convenient like a jump rope but it provides one of the best resistance exercises you’ll need. An elastic band can be used for many muscles for both the upper and lower body. Just to give you an idea on what you can target when using an elastic band the muscles you can work on are-
One of the best things about using 2 of the 5 exercise equipment for calisthenics is that not only will you target multiple muscle groups but will also work on your muscular strength and endurance. These two are very handy with helping you increase your physical performance. Also just remember that you should always exercise mainly for health & performance first. Do this consistently and your ideal body will inevitably come.
3) Hand Grips
Hand grips differ in a significant way that the other two fitness tools mentioned previously. Unlike a resistance band or a jump rope hand grips target one specific muscle group. Can you guess what it is? Hand grips mainly target your forearm muscles. Now you probably don’t wanna come out looking like Popeye The Sailor Man but never neglect putting your forearms to work. The reason for that is because you forearm muscles are what help you with grip strength.
For instance is you’ve ever watched Ultimate Beastmaster on Netflix you may have wondered how anyone is strong enough to enter such a competition. A major component to doing well is having great forearm strength so that you grip is powerful enough to help you with climbing. Have you ever noticed how most of the competitors who when are either rock or ice climbers? Doing either or will drastically improve your forearm strength therefore aiding you with your grip.
After all it takes more than just having big hand to have grip strength. So using a hand grip won’t be such a bad idea to strengthen your forearms.
4) Pull-Up Bar
If you want a tool that’s going to aid you in your calisthenics exercises then you better consider getting a pull-up bar. Pull ups are one of the best ways to test and enhance your functional strength. Whenever you do this exercise you primarily focus on the following muscle groups such as-
- Upper back
- Mid back section
- Lower back section
The other thing to mention is that there are multiple ways to use a pull up bar. For instance you can do regular pull-ups, chin ups, wide pull ups to name a few.
In fact if you wanted to specifically focus on your back muscles then having a pull up bar is a great tool to have.
5) Gymnastic Rings
Out of all of the 5 exercise equipment for calisthenics mentioned in this post gymnastic rings are one of the hardest to use. No not hardest in terms of rocket science or calculus. When I say hard I mean hard as in your muscles will be tested beyond your limits. Using gymnastic rings are one of the best but also most difficult tools to aid in the increase of your physical performance.
If you observe any male gymnast you’ll be stunned by there built because despite being so massive they don’t use ANY weights. What they will use is their body-weight and the gymnastic rings (as well as other tools of course). When using this Olympian equipment the muscle groups that are targeted as follows are-
- Upper back
- Mid-back section
- Lower back
And although every one of the 5 exercise equipments for calisthenics are convenient this one will probably be one of the most handy. You can take this with you almost anywhere to use. The only thing that you have to be concerned with is if you’re using it correctly.
In conclusion for home workout equipment
So out of the 5 exercise equipment for calisthenics which one is the best? Well that all depends on you as the individual. No fitness tool is superior to other mentioned in this post so there’s no definite answer as to what the best exercise equipment is. One thing I will say is that out of all of 5 of these tools the most versatile out of these are the resistance band and jump rope.
Resistance bands can be used in so many different ways and the best thing about this type of tool is that it test your muscular strength. The more resistance training that you do the more your muscles and your performance will be pushed to great lengths.
So those are the 5 exercise equipment for calisthenics that you can use. If you feel that there was another one that should’ve been mentioned feel free to drop your thoughts in the comment section below.
As always remember to stay healthy & fit.
